Day three of the rest of my life.

So it's the beginning of the end, which is an insanely dramatic thing to say, but I'm going to go ahead and say it anyway. I'm over that honeymoon period with film and am quick approaching the end of my formal education. It's now time to think profession and jobs and money and all of the things that take away from the fun enjoyable aspects of film. I've purchased a Canon 550d, the T2i, which is a fantastic little camera, you can read all about here, and I have begun to take on freelance productions. In addition I have started writing a script, which I hope to produce in the fall, and have been working on others' films. It's a strange transition to go from film school and its makeshift productions to real world work and trying to survive on the means these provide. I've rekindled my romance with photography upon purchase of the 550d and am really missing all my time spent in the darkroom post high school. This online journal will serve as a venture from film school to real world and will hopefully shed any light on what it means to make that transition. All production, photography and film work will be posted here and I'll try to explain as much of myself as possible.

For now, here is some of the work made in and outside of school over the last 2 years:

300.02 from Cory Popp on Vimeo.

Shot on the 550d for Production 3 experimental class. All available light with the kit lens at 18mm. Edited in Final Cut Pro without any color correction. Conceptualized by me.

Shot on the DVX100 using an Arri 4-light kit. Directed and edited by Ichiro Hino. Independent project funded on ours and the bands accord.

The Sleepwalker's Steps. A 16mm post sync sound exercise for my Production 2 class. Shot on a bolex using Kodak 7217 and 7231 stocks. Lit with a Lowel DP kit and available light. Edited and graded in Avid.

Also, M\my nightlife photography is being developed and can be found here.

Stay tuned.
